HERBERT ESRA

Herbert L. Esra, 52, of 604 Liberty St., died unexpectedly at 9:15 a.m. Monday in Culver Hospital. He had been a patient there 16 days. Mr. Esra had been employed by R. R. Donnelley & Sons Co. since August 1934 and most recently worked in the firm’s art department. Born April 18, 1912, at Indianapolis, he was a son of Frank L. and Mary L. Mullins Esra. He was married to Frances P. Deere May 12, 1934. They were married here. Mr. Esra’s parents moved to Crawfordsville during his childhood and he has been a resident of this city since that time. He attended city schools and was a member of the Donnelley Club. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Frank Esra of Crawfordsville; his wife; three sons, Thomas F. of Crawfordsville, Michael G., a student at Purdue University, and Gerald N. of South San Gabriel, Calif.; a daughter, Miss Cissy Esra, a student at Butler University; two brothers, Fred R. and Harold H., both of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Harold L. Hays of Crawfordsville; and four grandchildren, Vembra Lynn, Kim Koren, Kelly Ann and Thomas Kent Esra, all of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after noon Wednesday. – jlr
